FAQ
HOW DOES IT WORK?
For script and story development we can work entirely online or meet up in person. Some clients email scripts or ideas for written and/or verbal feedback over Zoom. Some folks would rather chat face-to-face. In any case, shoot me an email about your project and anticipated needs and I'll get back to you with options for how to proceed. Once we agree on price, you send me your materials, and I send you feedback in an agreed upon time frame. Or if you want ongoing work together, we can arrange that too.
I'm available for one-off assessments and feedback, as well as long-term consulting projects.
PRICING

1 hour of one-on-one coaching: $125
Written feedback on a full-length play: $375
Written and verbal feedback on full-length musical: $500

ABOUT ME
Kia Ora and Howdy!
Born and raised in Texas, USA, I've been a script and story consultant for more than 25 years. After earning an MFA from Yale School of Drama, I worked extensively in American regional theaters as a literary manager and dramaturg, specialising in adaptations and new play and musical development. Noteworthy projects included script development and research for several Broadway musicals like Jersey Boys and Doctor Zhivago, and translation of Chekhov's major plays for adaptation (Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Broadway) and film (Sony Pictures Classics' The Seagull).
In 2006 I became a professor of dramatic literature and playwriting at University of Denver, where I received tenure in 2012.
I moved to Aotearoa New Zealand in 2015 to become the literary manager at The Court Theatre, after which I worked as Playmarket NZ's full-time script advisor. I've kept a hand in the education side of things by teaching undergraduate and graduate dramaturgy students at Indiana University and Swarthmore College in the USA.
Now proudly based in Ōtepoti Dunedin, I am a part-time script advisor for Playmarket NZ and freelance writer and dramaturg.
